One of the best football club bars hosts London’s third meeting

Leyton Orient Football Club is the venue for Monday's Revitalisation meeting - the third to be staged in London.

It may be a football club that is currently in the fourth tier of English football, but it boasts a rich history and some legendary figures that have graced its Brisbane Road ground (now known as the Matchroom Stadium).

Where Orient is top-class, however, is through its Supporters Club Bar where the meeting will be held on Monday 6 June from 7pm till 9pm. It is reputed to be one of the best football club bars in the country - well it certainly is when it comes to its range and sales of real ale.

Thirteen times since 1998 it has been voted the CAMRA East London Club of the Year, six times as Greater London Club of the Year and was joint National Club of the Year winner in 2008 and finalist in 2013. It has also received two Special CAMRA awards and been listed three times in the prestigious Good Beer Guide.

CAMRA visitors to the meeting, at the Leyton Orient Supporters’ Club, will be able to enjoy two draught ales, Hackney Simcoe Summit and Signature Pale priced at £2.50 a pint. There will be a wide range of ale in bottle and can beers, including Hackney - APA bottles, Signature - Roadie cans, Magic Rock - Dark Arts Stout cans, ELB - Barbed Wit bottles, Dark Star - Hophead bottles, Wylam Brewery Hickey the Rake Bottle, Wiper and True Amber.

On match days all eight handpumps are in use, serving a selection of ales from regional, small and micro breweries throughout the country and the regular Oscar Wilde mild from Mighty Oak. Typically, they get through 12 - 15 different beers each match day. Real beer is very popular with Orient fans.

Over the past ten years it has run two beer festivals a year with 30 beers to choose from. Recently the club has organized tap takeover nights including Brighton Brewery and Franklins. On the 16th June they are holding an England vs Wales beer and football festival. The match will be screened live and will feature eight beers from both England and Wales for spectators to enjoy while watching the match.

The Supporters Club bar is legendary and a genuine haven for real beer fanatics. Along with a full range of wines and spirits, the Club serves lagers (Fosters and Kronenbourg 1664), bottled and canned beers and draught cider and perry.

It is situated in the West Stand at the Matchroom Stadium, Leyton E10 5NF in East London. Entrance is alongside the main stadium entrance, close to the Club Shop and Ticket Office, on Oliver Road E10. Parking in the immediate area of the ground is on-street only. The club is only ten minutes walk from Leyton tube station, on the Central Line, and not much further from Leyton Midland Road Station on the Barking - Gospel Oak Overground.
